Five apps have been banned for breaking local laws

Tinder, Grindr and three other dating apps have been banned in Pakistan for disseminating “immoral content”.

The government issued notices to Tinder, Grindr, Tagged, Skout and SayHi to remove the dating services.

Extra-marital relationships and homosexuality are illegal in Pakistan, the second largest Muslim-majority country in the world.

The country’s internet regulator said the companies had not responded to it within the stipulated time.

A Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) spokesman told BBC Urdu that as a consequence, the decision had been made to bring the management of these platforms into a “moral and legal realm”.

The watchdog has said, however, that it might reconsider the action if the apps agree to moderate what it views to be unethical and obscene material on their platforms.

Tinder, Grindr, Tagged and Skout did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Reuters news

Altice Offers to Buy Cogeco Communications for $7.8B

Altice USA has offered to buy Cogeco Communications for $7.8 billion, while reaching an agreement to sell Cogeco’s Canadian assets to Rogers Communications.

Rogers Communications is Cogeco’s largest long-term shareholder. It said the offer represents premiums of more than 30% for other Cogeco share classes.

The deal would give Altice ownership of Atlantic Broadband, the ninth-largest cable operator in the United States. It said Atlantic Broadband would benefit from its enhanced scale, operating efficiencies, and further investment support.

All multiple voting shares of Cogeco are held by executive chairman Louis Audet and members of the Audet family. The Audet family’s holding company, Gestion Audem, said Wednesday that it does not intend to sell shares and will not support the proposal from Altice.

Altice said the offer includes a payment of $612 million to the Audet family for their ownership, a “sizable premium” on its shares.

In its own release, Cogeco

Leveraging Hybrid IT Now to Power Digital Transformation

Summary: Cloud is a dominant force in enterprise software today. Global market turbulence is forcing some companies to accelerate moving parts of IT to the cloud sooner than expected to adapt to new customer demands. For others, it is forcing a pause in transformation, making cloud projects occur over a longer time horizon than expected. Both scenarios create a hybrid IT environment — a pragmatic, smart strategy that will be prevalent for a long time as CIOs reduce compute costs, manage data, provide a stable platform on which to innovate faster for competitive advantage, and power growth.

Hybrid IT is Mainstream

What is hybrid IT? Hybrid IT is an IT environment containing a mix of cloud and non-cloud hardware and software. It is the leading strategy that companies are using to selectively move data or workloads to cloud-based environments while retaining other technology in a non-cloud environment.

BOSTON – September 1, 2020 – ( Newswire.com )

Statum Systems, a healthcare IT startup, today announced StatumHEALTH, a HIPAA-compliant medical communication and collaboration platform that securely connects caregivers with each other and with hospital systems and data.

“Statum Systems was founded to solve a critical problem plaguing healthcare today – inefficient and unreliable communications among care teams,” said Dr. Arman Serebrakian, a surgery resident and company co-founder.

StatumHEALTH is the only solution that allows users to receive critical messages on smartphones in locations without WiFi or cell coverage, enabling medical professionals to stop carrying pagers or other specialty communication devices.

“Caregivers are forced to constantly toggle between pagers, smartphone apps, hospital systems and telephones to access EHR and collaborate with colleagues, making it difficult to communicate competently,” added Dr. Serebrakian. “And that’s why we developed this
